Christmas 2008

Wed., Dec. 24 We had a wonderful Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Corey, Ashley and Thayne, Brad, Rindy, Braden, Jennifer, Tysen and Cedar were all with us. They came Christmas Eve around 6 pm and Mom and Uarda joined us for a ham dinner. We enjoyed the evening. It was so fun because they all spent the night (well, not Mom and Uarda, but the rest).
Thurs., Dec. 25 On Christmas morning we slept until around 7. Braden and Jennifer came up around 7:30. We opened gifts and enjoyed everything we received. The kids got twister cars from Santa which they loved and spent much of the day riding around the kitchen and computer room on them (they don't go on carpet). They also received a WII but they had a hard time not fighting over whose turn it was. Jennifer did quite a bit of crying during the day. It was great to have the kids for Christmas because that is what it is all about. Ashley and Thayne left around noon to go to his family dinner, Corey left about fourish when Becca came to pick him up and Brad's family headed home around 6. I packed up quite a bit of Christmas decorations since we were leaving the next morning. Brent and I went and visited with Mom, Uarda and Dwight's family. We finished packing that evening so we could be ready to leave first thing the next morning. I also put my mementos into our new Curio cabinet. It looks beautiful. I have Mother's bride doll in the center, my Willow Tree figurines on the top shelf, and my parents and grandparents mementos on the two bottom shelves.
Fri., Dec. 26 - We loaded the car and tidied the house, picked Mom up at 8:45 and were on our way. On the way to take Mom to Burley she got sick and had to stop twice to throw up along the freeway. We got the Burley and went to visit Perry in the care center. Mom was still sick and just stayed in his room. Brent and I left Burley at 1 pm but didn't get to Salt Lake until 7 pm. The Switzer Summitt was closed due to blowing snow so we had to go through Pocatello. The roads were snow covered and we saw many cars off the road but we had no problem. Karen called and said Mary Lynn had called her and wasn't going down because the roads were too bad so I called Mary Lynn and she wanted us to stop in Malad to see her new house. It is decorated in the 50's style just like our home was when we bought it. They have a lot of work to do but it will be very nice. We convinced them to come to Utah and we would follow them. It took us from 4 to 7:15 to get there but we made it!! We went to Kathryn's and had a wonderful party with them and Karen's family. Angela, Dwaine and Ian were also there. We ate snacks and played the white elephant gift game. Angela had told us a new way to play it and we liked it that way. You throw dice on your turn and if you get a 7 or 11 you can choose a gift. Ian was the last one to be able to get a gift but he ended up with Moist Towelettes. Brent got a purse and I got an emergency kit for the car. The most popular item was a yogurt maker. After the game was over, Kent, who won the yogurt maker, asked me if I wanted to trade the kit for the yogurt maker. I was delighted because I love Yogurt but would have never bought a maker for myself. Angela and Ian wanted it also. We came home at 11 pm.
Saturday, Dec. 27 - We were lazy in the morning and then went shopping most of the rest of the day. Angela and I each bought a photo organizer from CostCo. We also bought decorations to trim the tree next Christmas. Angela and I went and visited Karen's family for a little while then Dwaine, Angela, Brent and I went to Five Guys for supper. The hamburgers and fries were very good. Ian was with his Mom all day. We watched "Mama Mia" and would not recommend it to anyone. The theme and morals were bad. The only parts that was good were the songs and the scenery.
Sunday, Dec. 28 - Today is Jennifer's birthday!! Happy Birthday, sweet little girl. Dwaine and Angela have the Allgier Christmas Dinner today so Brent and I will go to church and then visit with Kathryn if she is available. If not we will enjoy a quiet day here at Angela's.

  1. It sounds like you are having a fun time in Utah! I only wish I could be there, but someone has to work! :) We are actually really busy right now which is awesome! When are you coming home?
